Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi all again! There's a short story with this....Mom was putting it in one of her Barn Sales back in the '70s for, as I recall, about $20.00.....and I loved it, but it was hers to sell!! I told her that was waaay too little $$....so I got her to raise it eventually over several jumps, up to $325.00!!!! I was still terrified someone was going to buy it and I loved it!! Guess she finally realized it, came back over to where I was managing that part of the barn, pulled it out and tucked it away.....and the rest is history!! I still have it and hopefully someone in the fam will love it as much!!!! Just curious what y'all have to say!!! It COULD have been painted by a local on the Island as there were plenty of "Ball" names there....just don't know....the date is '98......the frame is not original to it and the painting is on wood.....

Jivvy the research is my favorite

Those scissors are so menacing. :joyful:

But cute indeed. ;) Nothing coming up as a quick "ah-ha" in the "genealogical record" end of things.

That's absolutely charming. (I've always loved trompe-l'oeil.) Though -- IMHO -- would benefit from a different fame.

Is that plywood, or a solid board?

It's definitely not plywood.....and other than a good 1/4+" thick, not sure of the wood.....one piece......and yes, it really NEEDS a much nicer frame!!!!

I once boarded a very petite, light butterscotch colored, Persian cat, while her owner was away for Christmas. She was not a particularly shy cat, so when she was nowhere in evidence the first morning after her arrival, my anxiety mounted as calling & searching did not succeed in finding her. I always worried that visiting cats would find some opening in the apartment walls unknown to me.

When I knew I had worked myself into enough of a state that I could be looking right at her & not see her, I called my cat loving upstairs neighbor, who patiently worked her way through everything, mostly shoes, on the floor of my one closet.

There, still fast asleep, a tiny wad of light butterscotch fur was stuffed down inside a light butterscotch rain moccasin in a back corner.

Years ago we had a sweet Maine Coon cat named him Miska. He loved aluminum foil balls. I would wad up the foil and he batted them all over the place. Then they would disappear.

On day when I was getting ready for work I put my foot in a shoe and it wouldn't go in, there was a hoard of foil balls stuffed into it :D

When I was a kid, we had a cat that liked to chase a little red rubber ball down the steps to the basement & bring it back to the landing by the side door. Think more than once, my dad, who kept the rubbers for his shoes on that landing, had the same difficulty for a similar reason.

Another time I was boarding a friend's cat at Christmas time, when I got up the first morning of Lily's arrival, I nearly shrieked when I saw some monstrous hairy growth in the water bowl. When I turned on the light & had a better look, it was what had been a new, unused, scouring pad that had been carried off the counter & dropped in the bowl, where it expanded & soap floated off.

Seriously? Such innocent kitties, when we lived at my house, my Siamese-mix Talisman had cat doors to the backyard (surrounded by a 6'+ block wall), and I'm one of those who kicks off their shoes by the door - cannot tell you how many times I found deceased lizards and frogs in my shoes (learned pretty fast to check). Then there was his creepy, almost nightly habit of placing frogs with their legs eaten off into the other cat's bowl, never his own - stopped when Spot, who was the dominant cat, died (Tali can be kind of a passive/aggressive jerk...)

Oh dear! The same sweet Maine Coon cat left me presents.

One night I was working late and sending documents to print - this was in the 90s when it took time for graphic files to print. I went into the living room to watch TV and wait for the document to print and stepped on something wet. I turned on the light and found several half chipmunks :(

Mishka brought them in as presents for me since I was working late!
