I find the red stenciled mark very odd for such an old piece but it does seem to be correct. (in case anyone else was finding it odd too)

Yes - I did find it odd but then stencilling has been around a long time. Pity I do not have the saucer to complete the set . Interested to know its value thou!

 

These are not exactly the same but there are two sets of cups and saucers, one they say marked the same, that sold in 2018 for 190 GBP. Don't know how a single cup would do.

Just going on the mark, I would have passed that one up at a thrift store.
I never would have thought late 1700s. Looks 1950s to me.
Just proves we don't know what we think we know.

 

The shape is classic but I was thinking of those sets of pastel cups and saucers of the 20th C too.
