How did you put it on? Is it gold or plated?

You don’t slip it on as a closed bangle! You put it by the side of the opening « pinching » your lower fore arm between the radius and cubitus bones and turn it :joyful:
If you are a man, I doubt you could, they were intended to be worn by young bride (which I’m not:facepalm:) Tiny wrist required;)

Mine is gilt metal, suspect not very old as it is not tarnished nor worn.

Yours is lovely, kyra. The gold makes it look more delicate.
Exactly! When putting on a cuff bracelet you always run the risk of an arterial bleed.:D In spite of that, a cuff bracelet is a bracelet, no need to research any other possibilities, when something has been a bracelet for centuries.

Ethnic jewellery is meant for spiritual protection and to emphasize identity, not for comfortable wear. I have a couple of Turkmen cuff bracelets, different sizes. Most don't make for comforable wear, they are very rigid and chafe. It looks like this one was never made for a human wrist:

The inner shape of this one, one of my favourites, is more rounded, but the triangular edges top and bottom keep hacking into my hand. To be worn with thick gloves only;)

On the subject of comfort, this Yemeni bride doesn't look too happy, but everything she is wearing is about protection, identity and status:

Ha! The scratches you can see on my forearm aren't from the bracelet:D but caused by rough play with doggies in the garden:facepalm:
Your cuffs are really nice! (Stunning, uh...)
But who "wins the coconut tree" is the Yemeni Bride:hilarious: her expression! She looks like an actor disguised in a bottle of Orangina for an advertisement :woot:
    Poor girl:wideyed:

I thought as much, but I spoke from experience. Not that I've ever had an arterial bleed (knock on wood :banghead:), but chafes and scratches, yes.

Hadn't thought of that, but you're right! Oh dear, my apologies to Yemeni brides. I'd offer them an orangina if I could.
