    Hi all,
I have this piece, I think too big for a tea towel but it reminds me of the decorative towels you would buy as a souvenir of your holiday/travels. Or maybe this was a freebie on the plane back when airlines gave you things for free:)
This one is 33" x 34", label is in Japanese, I'm thinking cotton but could be wrong.
Any ideas on what this is?
    Thanks for looking:)

I love the colors. Could this be a large scarf?

Google translate says 綿 is "cotton" (and that looks like your label to me).

    FWIW. ;)

thanks for all the replies folks:)
Thank-you INH:) I believe that is the same logo!

me too:) It came with a porcelain piece of JAL dinnerware so I didn't think twice about it. I thought it said JAL on the bottom, but what I thought was an 'L' must be a Japanese character.

I was thinking it might tie in with Debora’s Furoshiki. If this is like a farmers market or such, it might be for wrapping your produce.

thanks INH:) Maybe, but I suspect not, perhaps if the writing on the material can be translated it would solve the mystery

JA provides not only agricultural services but also almost every service related to daily life. In addition, JA is very active in banking and insurance businesses, which earn a major portion of JA’s profit.

thank-you Jivvy, it is cute:) The logo is used by many companies, all part of the Japan Agricultural Cooperatives, I think a translation would help to determine where/what this is from. I don't know Japanese, will have to see if I can find someone local that can read this:)
