I don't think people realize how all the "little" things can add up into a big payday. Especially if the deceased had resources and good taste. Even people of modest means can assemble fantastic collections over a long period of time.

When we moved my parents out of the 6 bedroom house they had been in for over 40 years to a 2 bedroom apartment in independent living my siblings just wanted to throw everything out. We were overwhelmed to say the least. I took home a box of family photos because I just couldn’t toss them. After 6 months I divided them up into packages for each of us (I am 1 of 9) and mailed the out. Everyone was so happy to get them. They just needed not to deal with them at the time we moved my parents!

Just spent 5 hours down at the clearance house, not even scratched the surface with removing anything big yet.

The main bedroom is just mind blowing with the amount of stuff in there.
The lady did not even have a proper bed, she slept on a folding camp bed, surrounded by bibles and crosses and candles

Today's haul is numerous sterling silver rings, 3 bangles, brooches, thimbles, MOP fruit knife, 3 spoons, necklaces, all silver.
    A few silver coins.

    7 x 9k gold rings
    2 x 18k gold rings
    2 x 22k gold rings
    1 x platinum ring
    1x 9k gold locket

    gold & silver watch fob

    Tons of costume jewellry

More cash, more booze, fountain pens, lighters, watches.

On the down side I've had a few nibbles around my ankles despite having big boots on, so I've had to spray the place and my dog with flea killer.

I think this old gal has been having away some of the church donations.:D

Davey, sounds like your instincts were good with this one. Thanks for the updates. If this successful woman succumbed to Alzheimers or similar for 10 years living on her own miraculously, can't imagine. Thanks for posting the finds, and do be careful.

Bicycle clips would stop the little blighters getting on your skin or wear fishing waders?

I'd look bonny wearing waders in the city centre :D
My rigger boots go upto my calfs, but they still got in.
I made sure my dog was well sprayed, I did not want her bringing them home.

They're from the cats that lived there.

I sprayed the whole place before leaving today and then got out.

They should be non around tomorrow.

I took 6 crates from the house in today's haul.

I found two safe keys but I've not found the safe(s) yet.

Only a small amount of cash today.

I brought these two wood boxes home and may keep them, African I think or Asian.

The medicine bottle is actually made from tin and the Elephant is similar to Papier Mache
The latter is from an African University.

    Two glass baby feeding bottles.

    20190402_171652.jpg

The brass inlaid elephant box is modern and from India but I still like it and will probably keep it.

On a side note I found two other boxes in an upstairs sideboard.
They contain the cremated ashes of two women who I'm sure were not related to the householder.
I'll return them to the funeral director named on the box.
If they refuse them, then I'll bury them somewhere or put them in the sea..
