Described as eastern snuff boxes?

Picked this up at a yard sale today, looks like low grade silver and has that silver smell but really have no idea what they are. tested with acid but unlike sterling no white on the stone. Anyone have any idea? BTW the black marks on the small one look like done with a sharpie and the overall construction is crude.

As kyra said, for betel. A sirih (betel) box and a lime box from northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Probably from the Aceh region.

I agree, not the best quality. It almost looks like a modern souvenir copy of the old ones.
