My dining room sideboard and china cabinet have locks like that; it was a style in the 20s. Then again, certain ladies undies could be dangerous in the wrong hands....

    Ha ha, funny discussion!

May I suggest...NOT painting it? I realize it's damaged, but what beautiful mahogany drawers! What figuring on the front!

Like evelyb30, I'm thinking lingerie chest ca. 1940. Unique!

Thou art correct. Nor brothers neither. But realized I was misreading OP.
It actually says hidden drawers & I now assume this simply means that when doors are closed the drawers are hidden. 'Hidden drawers' may be encouraging the view that it is for lingerie.

Not really getting a lingerie chest feel about this. I am thinking more for office use or maybe in a dining room to store silver and linens.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Welcome, @Lolly1989 ! That is a great "after" photo, too. The image on the TV screen really contrasts well with all of the white. Sets it off well. You have (or somebody else has) good design skills, it appears.

a semainier for shirts. one shirt per day - comes from the time when people worked six days a week.
sometimes also called chiffonier when it's for other stuff like the unmentionables.
