Did you ever get a message at the e-mail address you used to register with the site asking to confirm it & did you reply?

This is what's at the link. I have no idea why you can't access it:

The forum software automatically sends the request for email confirmation when a new member registers. And if that member ask that another request for confirmation be sent to them because they didn't get the 1st one, then the software automatically sends you another one. Point is - the emails are sent !

But here's the issue - if you didn't get the 1st one, you're not going to get any others either. And this applies to everyone who has this problem.

What happens is this. The emails are being sent to you, but they are simply not getting to you. Why ? There are several possible reasons.
1 - the emails may be in your SPAM folder.
2 - your email provider may be blocking emails from Antiquers because they think the emails are SPAM.
3 - the email program (software) that you use may be blocking emails from Antiquers because that program thinks the emails are SPAM.
4 - you may inadvertently be the reason yourself because of the settings you are using on your email program.
5 - it may be the anti-virus or security software you are using, and or the settings you chose when you set that program up.

Any and all of these may be the reason the emails do not get to you. And not a single one of them have anything to do with Antiquers, nor can the Antiquers staff do anything to correct the problem because quite simply - we do not have any control over any of that.

@daveydempsey Is Roshan having a problem out of the ordinary?

@Bronwen It would appear Roshan has multiple ID's, I have deleted two, we will see what the forum software will do.

Thanks @daveydempsey Was starting to figure it was something like that.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Since this thread has become a good resource for cameo information, here is another contribution so we can find it later. A tiger eye (tiger's-eye) bar pin cameo that I bought at an antique show about 15 years ago for $7. It was in a tray that was overflowing with a lot of smalls... not all jewelry.

Sorry for the out of focus aspect. I have never learned to take good closeups with my phone. That's part of the reason that I post so few of these!

Don't you just love the rush of finding something really nice hiding among the dross? I tried to edit one of your photos to get a better view of the cameo:

On the one hand, I get really put out with people selling loose cameos when I suspect they are the one who has removed a beautiful cameo from what was probably a good quality mount, but there are other cases where I think meltdown is the kindest thing.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this a bit creepy?

No, I mean creepy, like Chuckie. Think teeth never work well for me in cameos or other carved faces. It's a clever use of the diamonds though.

Other photos show mount marked on the back 14K UJ.

Question: Does seller have a realistic idea of value of the piece?

That's German Headband Girl! I found the original listing and it does have a gold mark on it, but ... German Headband Girl? Let's just say the odds are not in the seller's favor.

Unless somebody really needed to quit smoking! Poor thing.

I know - why in the world would anyone put her in so much gold? And you only need to spend a very small amount of time scrolling through undifferentiated cameo listings to see that this cameo is mass produced.

If I saw it in a thrift, I would not have purchased it for $6.99.

Well, for $6.99 with the gold marking, I'd have bought it.

And then came here and asked if it was okay to sell it for scrap. :bucktooth:
