Antique German?? Porcelain Figurine ID Needed

Measures about 5 1/2 wide and 6" tall. I am assuming German or Austrian but as far as I know it could have been made in Topeka. What are these winged individuals called? Angels? Putti? Thanks in advance for any help!

 

I dunno for sure. Crossed swords is such a faked mark and the mark doesn't look correct for Meissen, nor does the modelling look quite good enough for Meissen. There is a site for fake Meissen marks. I think German/Austrian as do you, but maybe a late 19th c. "imitation." I do believe that they are supposed to be cherubs, BWDIK? Just guessing here. Did anyone invite MD1919 to join? He/she knows this stuff pretty well.

 

I don't think it's Meissen. That mark is closer to cross hatching than crossed swords. Have you checked Porcelain Marks & More?

 

I only have Kovel's porcelain marks.

Forgot to say that I too think it is German. You might look at Sitzendorf (hope I spelled that correctly.)

 

I think md was here but doesn't seem to be anymore (I think, but memory fails me all the time). Can you make anything out of that oval black mark?

 

Yes, this looks like an imitation Meissen mark, the hilt on the righthand sword looks wonky. The coloring on the skin just misses the mark but the hair is nice. The coloring on the flowers and gold is below Meissen standards. I believe this stuff was meant to be sold as Meissen. From 1850-1910, I would guess. I know that's a large range.

People call them Putti, Angels, or Cherubs (Cherubim), but technically, Cherubim and Angels are heavenly beings who don't imitate adult humans or sit around necking. Cupid is a male god who is identified by a bow and arrow. But people looking for these types of figurines may use any of those terms in a search. I don't know if you could list this as Meissen, it is a crossed sword mark that may not be authentic Meissen.
