Speaking of price tags, does anyone have an idea as to fair market value?

 

I have seen some Regency embroideries similar to this but the ones I've seen were worked on silk so if the background is painted then that is unusual.
I would place it 1800-1820.
I would think it was worked in silk, it's hard to tell from photos but Regency embroideries usually were.
I wouldn't worry about the cracking, to me it adds to it's charm and for an embroidery that is around 200 years old it's in lovely condition and a very nice find.

Interesting thought. But Daphnis & Chloe grow up together. I'm not getting the sense the embroidered duo are that well acquainted.
