Hi folks, it's me again to appeal to your kindness :)

Recently I bought a pair of earrings that I just liked (and cheap, as usual). They look to me as Czech between the wars, filigree (no, not filigree, but I don't know the word.. - metal cut??) with paste stones but may be wrong - would appreciate experts' opinion.

I just made an experiment with them and came up with a question: is it possible that paste stones glow under UV light? It looks to me that they glow..

Thank you very much for taking the time to see and comment!

Hi, I can't help with the stones but judging by the cut on them and the texture on the back around the stones, I think these are very recent. And I wouldn't call the stones paste, just glass. JMHO :)

    Thank you, Marie Forjan!
The stones are not glass, IMHO, the earrings are very light, I guess they are plastic. And look like poured into their nests in a liquid form and then hardened.
How recent you think they are?

I agree with Marie. Those textured backs are 90s and later.

Thank you, Ownedbybear! It can be assumed as established then.
But why do they glow??? Any ideas are mostly welcome!
Or maybe, as they are recent, the plastic is fluorescent?
Anyway, thank you again for your help!

À jour, ajour, or open worked.

Very good that you know it isn't filigree, thank you.:)
I have wasted so many hours of my life searching for filigree (which I love), only to be presented with ajour.
Don't get me wrong, I like ajour very much, but when I look for filigree I want to see filigree, not sellers wasting my time.
    (Rant over.:bag:)

Some resins and plastics will glow a bit under UV.

I don't see that the plastic "jewels" are poured into their nests??

I also don't see any particular fluorescence in your photo other than the normal color change many colors take on under UV light.

IMHO, these look very like the stuff sold now in my local discount/dollar stores.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound rude, I'm just saying what I see. :shy:

Thank you so much, Any! Helpful as usual.
Sorry, I am not good at terms in English, just now filling big gaps in my language knowledge. Actually, it is called the same in BG, and is also used for knitting (ajour knit-work), for metalwork (ajour metal fence).
I understand you, it is annoying when people do not use the proper terms for things. The problem is that it is so easy to sell online nowadays that there are many sellers that did not take the time to get educated and just started selling. It is like everything else on the internet, one can find all sorts of crap and should be very cautious, compare different sources and address trustworthy sources. But how to distinguish... It became a whole new science "how to find true information on the internet".
Thank you for the encouragement, actually I took notice from your old post about filigree :)
B.t.w. I have an old silver bracelet that I believe is filigree (it is part of my mom's jewellery) I will post a photo later on.

Thank you, bluumz, of course I don't take it as rudeness, I am grateful for any response, people wasted their time to look and respond, and it has to be appreciated, no matter what the answer is.
I looked at the earrings through magnifying glasses and this was my impression when looking at them. I cannot photo it, though, and also might be wrong, of course. I posted them only because it seemed to me that they glow which was a riddle for me. But it can well be that I am not good at reading UV light effects :) I just start to practice. It is like in radiology in medicine, many people can look but a few can see what actually is, only the experienced and knowledgable.
Or it just can be that some plastics also can glow as Ownedbybear suggested.
It was just an experiment I made.
Thank you all for your time, appreciated!

Don't worry, many native English speakers use the wrong term, and you knew it wasn't right, so thank you.:)
Your English is fine, and google(?) translate does the rest.

I would love to see your mother's bracelet.

Any, now as I look, I am not sure if it is filigree. Anyway, I post it.

Thank you, Ownedbybear! I did not pay attention to styles before and had the impression it was filigree but when I took it out yesterday, I realised that it most probably was not.
Any, sorry for misleading you! Not intentional.

Lovely bracelet, Iva, is it Bulgarian? I know Bulgarians made a lot of cast brass jewellery.
Agree, although I think the cannetille is cast, rather than handmade.

Any, thanks! Honestly, I have no idea where it came form. My mom was not very keen on jewelry, a practical working woman caring mostly about our food and everyday care, and so she did not pay attention to jewerly and did not tell us anything about what she had. She didn't wear even a wedding band which did not affect their marriage which lasted for almost 60 years. It was just not part of our lives, so to say. I doubt that she had bought it herself, I think it might be Soviet as Dad used to go there often and might have brought it from there. I found a similar style brooch on eBay, made in Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg). https://www.ebay.com/itm/144381734018?hash=item219dd26c82:g:aHgAAOSwyDZh7Fpk&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA8OiIuivTsTOjlccG4h1xR6rH579tsVVpki6Ckn4ku3YXG2uPmSzfzHjzAed0L6qkK2KOY+bIYUs3115qSUJeFZ7iubcJuSKpZe0C7nZPMYtd96/wuDC/2390sHIfYyVEGA3XjEZFWcjOuzcTIuWOBByqKz2+JW1m/yfDokB+tqyp68DEMJvE1Un29Papj4n4VkyNL8SIQRBzD/JmYLAi03AOmi7dToUAMd9IjnpF45SBsSMCBWhIIoIRdX1UfyeFgNgjnanpprETar9aX5SNHWJKQosgGoYx9WMi9EjEGmHV0wnFRU5JJPiP/wAgAUPwPw==|tkp:BFBMjPWSjZ1h

I also had the impression it was white but obviously it is yellowish :).

The style is related to Middle Eastern styles, and maybe the link between your bracelet and the Middle East is the Ottoman Empire. Not that it is that old, but culturally.
It has yellow stones, and it has cannetille. Cannetille and yellow stones are found worldwide, but you have to look at more.
For instance, the brooch is handmade silver, your bracelet is cast brass.
The brooch is a solid rectangular shape, the bracelet is made of a row of links with trefoil (clover leaf) shapes at the ends, making it look more organic.
The pin on the brooch has a trombone clasp, which is generally used for Western European inspired higher quality brooches. The bracelet has a basic pin closure, similar to ones seen on folk jewellery from the Balkans, Turkey, the Middles East, etc.
So to my eyes the two have very different origins.;)
