The staff blew it on that one! Nice chunk for the hoard! Every time I find "silver" in a thrift, it's Rogers Brothers or International Silver or some other such EPNS.

I sold and delivered a modern bed frame (made to look old) today, it was from a house clearance.
For the same money I walked out of the house with this HMV phonograph gramophone with the brass horn, needles and records.:D

Pictures taken at my lock-up, so no neutral background.

More gold, $7.99+ for the 18k ring, $4.99+ for the 14k brooch.

She looks better at that angle and from a distance than straight on and closer.

Value Village under a different name, if memory serves. Aka Spenders, for their habit of seriously overcharging for junk jewelry and other bits. Of course, some of their people are idiots - we like those people. :singing::singing::singing::greedy::greedy::greedy:

No Savers or large thrift businesses here, only local church or town charity thrifts. All of them have an “expert” who comes in and checks out the donations. Which means they get first pick and all the carp goes out on the shelves.

I was in one of these local thrifts and there was a box of nice ironstone sitting on the floor. I asked about it and they said “It’s not for sale yet, we have to have our expert look at it first.” Needless to say, I never saw one of those pieces make it on to the shelves :(

There’s a few church thrifts here that have “experts” check the donations before putting them out.
The expert missed this 16” Tiffany sterling ewer made by J.C. Moore, circa 1860. Paid $2.50. last May.

ah, no wonder I haven't heard of them - I'd have to cross a minimum of three state lines to find one. Thanks!

I posted this last May on this thread, funny thing was that the woman told me it had been sitting on the mantelpiece in the woman’s clothing room for a week, she had just moved it to the front checkout room where I spotted it. I always check the woman’s clothing room now. It had dents, scratches and was leaning at the base but weighed over 1,000 grams, I sold it to a collector for just a little over twice scrap value, he had it restored and is now a regular customer of mine.
