Queen Victoria cameo

Hello I am new, I have a queen Victoria cameo by tomasso saulini.. it is an early one probably from his first order in 1845, it’s after the bust of John Gibson, very rare, is there any collectors on here?

Welcome, queen V. We have a dedicated little group of cameo devotees. There is an ongoing thread about cameos, to which you are free to add your cameo, or you can continue this thread with some photos. Either is just fine.

To start off, what does this mean & how do you know?

The cameo is Victoria alone or the jugate one of her & Prince Albert that the Saulinis, & later James Ronca, made for the family Order of Victoria & Albert she started? Shell or hardstone? Signed T(ommaso) Saulini F?

Show us please. If you take pictures with your phone, you will probably need to downsize them to meet the 1mb limit here.

 

The cameo is of Victoria alone, I know that there was an order placed for some cameo’s in 1845 by Prince Albert, it was the first order for saulini the elder, they included examples of the John gibson bust, il quickly try and find the page I found this info on

"Through John Gibson (1790-1866), the English sculptor living in Rome, Saulini received frequent commissions for cameos from Queen Victoria in the years 1854-60."

It also says:

"Signed below the Queen’s neck: Saulini F" If a cameo does not say T Saulini, I am of the opinion it is by Luigi.

 

No it wasn’t that page, I’m sorry to keep you waiting, I posted a snapshot of the website it was on, I just cannot find the page where it goes into more detail about his first orders from the royal family, please don’t wait.. I will be in contact again when I find it,

 

He received his first order from Prince Albert through John gibson in 1845, saulini used the bust of Victoria by John gibson etc to do the cameos portraits, again I will give more detail soon

 

Sorry one more thing, these early cameos were not for the badge of order
