2 cloisonnè vases, 30cms height - any clue to history?

    Welcome Ola.
    Those are two beautiful antique Chinese cloisonné vases. The style is Ming and the type of enamel looks much like that of the period. I can't say for certain that they are genuine Ming.

    There is something strange with those white bits. Do you have any idea what they are, are they raised?

    Early orig Ming & Qing Cloisonne tough to date-the forums/threads are endless and contentious as are the superb Chinese & Japanese antique reproductions.Below pic is Qing (it doesn't have as many of the white deposits of yours though). QING.png

    Can it be something leaching out of the glass? Do they scrap off ?

    The white residue seems to be some sort of crystallisation/oxidation that was water soluble and went off with water.

    I updated the album with more pictures and details. Interesting to see before and after photo!

    I have had that white build up on salt glaze crocks. I live in a humid climate and it effects a few now and then. The problem is it causes the glaze to pop off.

    You'd definitely want to include the before/after pics to any Asian antiquities forum you mail them to.
