I think the costume joolies can give you better advice on that than I can.

Are they terribly dirty? Doesn't seem like it from the pictures but can't really see detail. What kind of dirt, etc are you seeing? Is the the green verdigris or what exactly is dirty about them?

Would think a lightly damp cloth would be okay, but be careful not to catch any of the prongs on the cloth.

DO NOT GET THE RHINESTONES WET!!!!!

You can dip a Q-tip or soft toothbrush in rubbing alcohol then shake it off so it is barely wet. This will take care of sticky gunk like hairspray on them. If it is just dirt try a dry soft, dry toothbrush and, as a last resort, a Q-tip barely wet with glass cleaner.

Make sure just to clean only the tops of the stones, not not let any liquid run onto the backs of the stones. If you have ever seen a piece where the stones are dark and no longer reflective that is what happens when the stone backs get wet, it destroys the foil backing over time.

And as Lucille said, you need to be careful, you don't want to catch the prongs and open them up.

If it doubt, leave them alone :)

Agree, avoid getting too wet, for all reasons Marie mentioned. Why I suggested a very lightly damp cloth. But maybe that is even a risk.

Isn't it a concern putting rubbing alcohol, even if light, on what might be AB coating? Almost looks like the rhinestones might have that coating, just confirming.

Agree, if in doubt leave them alone.

Beautiful set! Congrats on the find!
right!? There is never anything worth picking up at the thrift stores I frequent!

Good to know about not wetting rhinestones- not something I wouldn't have known!

So long as they are cleaned with a light touch the alcohol doesn't damage the AB coating, scratching is more of a problem since it is a surface treatment.

It looks like a piece of kleenex or some thing white had stuck on the prones .. I'll upload a photo later.. I'd rather not mess with it..

No worries, you can copy it from here, I made it as large as I could, it should be plenty big enough for selling online.
