Featured CAMEOS: Show & Tell or Ask & Answer

I have a fondness for rescued cameos, ones that are damaged but that someone loved enough to have a jeweller craft a setting to accommodate their infirmities. This may or may not be her original mount. The pin, hinge & clasp are replacements; remnants of earlier findings are for a pin running in the direction of the long axis. The panels that (mostly) hide her deficits are heavily gilt base metal.



And no, I do not know who she is, if indeed she ever had a specific identity. She lives near another lady with a sword over her shoulder who is also a mystery.

I was going to ask which crewe this cameo was carved for; she's wearing a Mardi Gras crown.

Yours at least has the excuse of needing strength to hold up that rock. Still can't believe it is really a diamond; a definite find.

 

This lady with a sword is neighbor to the lady with the earrings AJ covets. (I admit I'd love to have a pair like them too.)

After I bought a gem tester a few years ago I tested just about everything I have. Most of mine were costume and things were glass or plastic, and this item was the only real diamond. (It's a very small one but the whole brooch is small so it looks larger in my photo than it really is.) I do have some amethyst items but not in cameos. And also have some coral cameos.
