  1. Hello everyone,
Could you guys help me figure this piece out please.
I’m trying to figure out how old it is & the story that’s being told here…
I think I know who the king is but not there story….

There’s a lot of details in this piece.
    Head on a pike
    King with a lamb
King with a falcon in a backpack
    Strange candles
    feather in kings crown

For some reason, I am seeing this as a rather funny representation of some story I've never read. Particularly like the fellow with the shillelagh!

I hope someone comes up with an answer because it looks like animal offerings to me.

  8. Hi everyone!

Kings circling the mortar and culminating at a King holding a
lamb and standing next to a severed head on a pike wearing a helmet
with ears/horns. One of the Kings has a bag on his back with a falcon
perched on it. The Kings are in the style of those on playing cards.

    Mortar- 4in. X 5in. X 5in. Pestle- 7in.
    1255 grams / 646 grams

My best guess — 18th-19th century (Qujar Dynasty) maybe older???

And maybe depicting something to do with king Darius??

But haven’t seen any other engravings with a similar story

    thoughts?

    thanks btw

  9. Also I’m not sure if the guy w/ his head on the pike has pig / animal ears or if it is something like the Waterloo helmet

I suppose you saw this similar one on Worthpoint? Unfortunately, the seller doesn't offer much info, and mentions no source for the King Darius assertion.

  11. yes I did see that one & also a candle stick that was similar- still nothing with the piked head though,
also there is this guy that followes the king with this bat (?) like object, maybe the royal Fly swater?
Thank you for looking at this and online to help solve the mystery

  12. Also anyone notice all the candles almost like the Noel candles in the front yards around Christmas….
