old looking bayonet with an X mark

I've been trying to figure out what this hand marked X is for or hallmarked X.

Cannot find anything with an X online, wondering if the military guy who's it was marked it himself after killing 2 .

Any ideas on this where it originated from and era or ?

No.....the blades have makers marks and factory marks and military marks.....
IF....IF..he killed 10...then maybe he'd have notched the handle !!

 

I think you might be right komokwa. Just wish someone could know this x mark.

 

The X mark is a bend test.
