Not marked but distinctive. They originally had a paper label.

I agree!!! I can't imagine anyone dropping something like this off at a thrift shop. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::eek::eek::eek::eek::wacky::wacky::wacky::wacky:

I can't imagine it didn't get broken the way they handle merchandise there. It was just plopped on top of a bunch of other stuff on a top shelf at about eye level. Couldn't see the gold at first look. Another dealer was there but she said she would not have known what it was and probably would have passed it by even if she had seen it. She had already walked down that row so I believe her.

    Nice find, Brad!

Here's my find of the weekend. Samuel Messenger & Sons kerosene lamp with a Hinks and Sons duplex burner. Stamped brass with a weighted base. 19" tall with a 6-5/8" base. Font is about 7" in diameter.

The burner has a key that, when rotated, separates the parts to facilitate lighting of the wick without the need to remove shade/chimney. Burner was hacked a bit. They retrofitted the top to use a spider/tripod shade holder. I'm not sure if I can replace just that part or not. I stole this at $30USD.

DSCF1060.JPG Something I forgot I had - size 5 cocktail ring with bitty sapphires. It's nice enough, but I saw little spin beads inside ... and then the 750 hallmark. It'll be rehomed sooner or later.

Nice ring! What are spin beads? When I looked up that phrase I got a lot of sites about fishing tackle... :)

They're more anti-spin beads. Jewelers sometimes add little round beady things on the inside of a ring to keep ones with heavy tops from spinning around on your finger. Flat-bottomed rings don't need them.

They are called ring sizing beads.
