sorry guys, with all those flowers and leaves growing into the writing it's hard for me to read.....
I see no ISRAEL......but yes the images are all biblical Jewish stories on the high side of cultural significance.

My impression is that a lot of what goes around the upper edge is decoration of alternating flower shapes & strokes that resemble letters but are not - too many repetitions of same 'letter' to be words - but some of it is writing.

nahh...it's words alright........ but strung together in such a flowery way as to make it look more like a design..

hi - even though I live in Israel - my Hebrew is still a bit wobbly but I asked my daughter to translate it but it's hard to read as some of the photos of the text is missing - and not in order. If you could photo the text so I can get all the letters one after the other it would help me more. I will ask someone I know for an idea what it could have been used for - it's defiantly not for collecting blood!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time. I have taken some pictures of the text and try to upload them in correct order. Hope that helps.

I'm not so sure. But I was thinking that the flowery design in the letters are additions and would make the letter sound different? I've seen similar on the internet. But can be wrong. I've also uploaded some better closeups in the correct order. Would that help reading it?

In Hebrew, vowels appear as dots and bars above, beneath or to the left of letters. This system of dots and lines is known as niqqud, a Hebrew word which means "applying dots".

    Sorry , but no.
the leaves and flowers are leaves and flowers....what you've posted are the dots & dashes.
When you learn to read hebrew , the dots and dashes are present , showing the difference between ..eg. an A sounding like AY...or Ah. like ... mad vs made.
Once you learn that.....they take away the dots & dashes.....those buggers...and expect you to now know the differences by recognizing the words themselves....

If the letters on the pot had dots & dashes.....I could still sound them out ...even not knowing the words themselves......
Also there are some letters only used for the end of a word......called ' sofeet'...but even knowing that , isn't helping me to translate.

I wasn't at the top of my class....reading hebrew.....once they took the dots & dashes away !! :sorry::sorry:

    I also just notice
that's very helpful. I've learned something new again. I also tried to write it down and do a Google translate photo search, but doesn't help.

I also noticed that there is a difference between Yiddish and Hebrew.

    Could this maybe be Yiddish?

Yiddish is a European Jewish language, the pot looks Middle Eastern.

I see no reason for the letters to be there just as a design........but the more I look at it....the more I'm starting to wonder !!
    It just doesn't make sense...
If this was English...Greek.....russian....Iranian......and those letters were just a jumble of characters......... peoples heads would blow up !!!:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

That's my guess too. It shows a camel, a gazelle? and a cat like animal, so I guess these animals must been part of the country where this pot origins from.

It also shows monkey or cat like human figure. Would this also be a part of a biblical story?
