My house is about 150 years old. I have 3 attics. I was going through some things the other day and found this small box with these two odd looking pieces in it. My first thought was very old earrings but they are heavy. Might pull your lobes to your shoulders. Ha ha. I have no idea what else they could be. Any ideas?

Those are rhinestones that have fallen out scattered beside them? Do they have any kind of findings attached? Previously cuff links?

Rhinestones for sure. 1960s or 1970s from the way things look. Beyond that, no idea.

Do they have a hole at end? Dangles for a string (purse, lariat necklace...)

Yes Bronwen, they are loose stones from the pieces but too large I believe for cufflinks also. They are almost an inch long and 1/2 inch wide. The top of the teardrop looks

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Someone trying to disguise some gold?? If they’re that heavy......just sayin’...........that seam is also intriguing.........!!! Maybe have the metal tested?? Or try prying that seam open!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! I never checked lariat necklaces until Kyratango mentioned it. Thank You Kyratango. I kept searching and I believe that this is what it is. Here is the photo I found of the necklace.

I was thinking kyratango's suggestion was the best, because those necklaces require weights at the ends. Just couldn't tell from photos if/how your pair ever attached to anything. As much as komokwa gets hopes up, don't think they have any monetary value, although kyratango would probably be happy to add them to her spare parts inventory. :)
