Featured How would these chained cameo stick pins have been worn?

A recent acquisition...
Sold with the Loring Andrews box though it’s impossible to tell if it is original to the pins. No marks at all and I haven’t yet tested for any gold content. Lovely little lava cherubs/putti! They look nicer in person than my poor photos depict.
None of the chained stickpins I have seen while googling have safety tips so I presume they came without. How would these have been worn? Each pin measures only 1.5 inches or 4cm long. Each chain is 3.5 inches or 9cm long.

 

How unique ! I wonder if the heads arent someones family members,since they all look so different.

There are some beautiful examples of chained stick pin pairs out there!
But I still wonder just how they were worn... and without safety tips (!)...
Was it on the collar? How were they positioned? Just for women... or men, too?

I think it said in Nathalie's link that they were used to fasten blouse collars. If you weave the pins through the fabric, you can wear them without injuring yourself. (I hope.)

At least you won't be injured that way, but someone who wanted to throttle you would think twice.
