red glass beads long necklace maybe Asian

This glass beaded necklace has no ending area that I can see, the knots look Asian to me. Does anyone know if it's a necklace or some ritual thing or who, what, where, when etc. info.

To me it looks like one of those necklaces that you twist into a double strand and then place it around ones neck ... Joy.

 

It just looks like a long necklace to me - wrap it how you want it stuff. I like the color.

Probably Opera length bead necklace. Should be about 36 inches long.
Popular in the 1920s.

However, these don't look like old beads to me. Is the color really a pinkish red?
Old red beads would have been more of a true red.
Monitors can play havoc with color though.

And what do you mean by Asian knots.
That's not something I've heard of.

 

I have seen Chinese necklaces with these type of knots. The colors are really true red

There's no age at all on the cording, and it's a dead match to the beads. They're probably only a few years old.

 

Knotted bead necklaces are quite universal, it is a way of protecting the vulnerable beads from damage. I used to knot bead necklaces too.

 

I still do it, but I'm nearsighted, so I can just pull my glasses down and off we go.

 

In answer to your basic question: a 'fashion jewellery' necklace, which is only a ritual for some of us. Without any info on weight for size or coolness to touch, have to guess they are glass. Color from here looks like a deep cerise. Think I know what you mean about the knots looking Asian. I have a couple of inexpensive necklaces that were made in China, bought 10 - 15 years ago, that have a similar look because the size of the holes in the beads required a heavier gauge of cord & has been double knotted, a simple knot, but made with 2 loops of cord. I see it a lot on Asian import stuff.

 

I hope the beads are glass, at least. I have a plastic one that looks similar. It's hard to tell on a monitor with no other description, as was mentioned.
