    Looks ok to me for an early Irish provincial gateleg.

    I'm sorry but to me that is not radically different there is carved legs on one but not the other tgey both have the same structure and same opening. Thickness of table is not the issue !!

    I voiced my opinion.....but not being a furniture expert I'll leave it to others to explain that just because you think they look the same..... why they are not the same. The differences speak volumes.

    I agree, the tables in both links are very different from Elaine's. Yes, they are old gatelegs, but that's where the similarity ends imo.

    Yeah they used them on 17th century furniture
    Up to the early 18th century, most early England furniture was ‘joined ‘or ‘pegged’ in their construction, using mortise and tenon joints held together by wooden dowels or pegs, or occasionally clout nails. Early wooden pegs were of irregular or square ended in a tapering form; they acted like wedges and tightened the joints as they were hammered in

    Everyone is entitled to their opinion . I'm not saying they are the same just the have the same construction the same opening and supported by having a platform as it's called in the middle .

    I didn't say tgey we're the same . Just the same design as in tgey are all platform gate leg tablets. It would be impossible to get antique furniture the same no ikeas back then lol . Ah no but do you understand what I mean

    The i word!!:facepalm: You evil woman!:eek::hilarious:
    Well, you know what we mean. There are many gatelegs out there. Saying the ones in the links are similar to yours is stretching it a bit too much, imo.
    Would love to see it restored.

    Lol . I know I hate the I word would have a bonfire with it . I know I think I was picked up wrong was saying tgey were the same style ours clearly has some sort of doric columns. He is a very talented man brings them back to their former glory but doesn't overdo it like some can . I've a modern home but every piece of furniture in it apart from my bed and my 3 boys beds is antique and most of it my dad restored for me even my pictures are all old hate modern crap
