About 5-1/2 inches long, the bowl is only 7/8"

At that length, it is for mayonnaise. Mustard ladles are shorter.

    Heathen colonials. ;)

Mustard doth not from a bottle come. It is made by taking Colmans mustard powder and adding a little water, mixing to a smooth paste. Allow to stand to bring out the full bite.

I will accept some fancy mustards may come in a jar, but a squeezy bottle? Dear heaven.

    Hi Bear,
What do you expect from people who have their tea in tissue paper bags?

There is that, greg. And the matter of the water temperature, too.

Yes, a smidgen of malt vinegar does add something: it's more a French mustard then, but very pleasant.

I add mustard powder to mashed potatoes, cheese sauce and many other things.

My mother added powdered mustard to a lot of dishes. Always in her baked beans.

You can put a teaspoon of this in a lot of dishes and it brightens the flavor. I always have it in my cupboard.

A tad added to cheese sauce enhances the flavour without being obvious. It also rubs nicely into meat before grilling or whatever.

I make a sauce for asparagus with sour cream, a dollop of mayo & powdered mustard.

No, not a "mustard plaster" as such, but there was a jar of Musterole in the medicine cabinet. I don't remember my parents using it on us, but there was something that they smeared under our noses which smelled to high heaven (in a strong medicinal way) to keep us breathing if our nasal passages were stopped up from a cold.

I spent my childhood each year from March to November with the all-powerful smell of Campho-Phenique arising from my body.

Isn't bottled mustard just hydrated mustard powder....
