    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

I laughed nearly as much as watching my in laws trying to register friends numbers in their smartphone :hilarious:;) that should have been recorded, their favorite thing to do was to switch it off before putting in the pocket, specially when we had to fetch them at the station in Paris:facepalm:

That's the coast near Sorrento, the name of which escapes me.

I remembered: cinque terra. AKA Amalfi coast sometimes. It's lovely there.

Amalfi Coast sounds about right to me - it's just south of the Naples area. Cinque Terre is actually up in Liguria - to the west of La Spezia. Just gorgeous there too.

Here is a shot of what I picked up at the Antique/Vintage sale I was helping at. It is mostly dealers who set up, did a bit of pre-show shopping.

All of the jewelry is costume. I had a thread on the two glass necklaces to the right. Frog is Lucien Piccard, small shell/gold brooch is Boucher, a few Vendome necklaces with cool beads, thermoset or similar brooch earring set I believe is Juliana. My FAV is the Saphiret ....PURSE! I am obsessed with Saphirets (ever since ..at this exact sale 2 years ago I bought, by accident, a piece with older Saphirets (destination: Japan, $435), I've been obsessed. So I asked this jewelry seller if she had any saphirets, and she said, "Oh, I have a saphiret....purse". No idea what that was, but she brought this out. Its the vintage kind of saphiret, but could not get my money out fast enough. I've never seen another.

Also a bag of loose Czech glass beads for crafts, a WWII memory book with photos (going to do a post on that later). The silk purse that looks in such poor shape has a beautiful white and gold tone enamel frame. I'm hoping to sell so someone can reuse the frame.

Also love the little Deco-style bracelet with the carved (I think Bakelite to look like jade).

    Here are some pics:

Now the question is, what is destined for the hoard & what will be going out the door to support the hoard????? ;) :p:p :rolleyes::rolleyes: :D:D:D

Excellent question, Peggy. :) Hoard will expand slightly, hopefully will be funded by other items and then some.

Lucien Piccard, Boucher, Juliana all getting sold. Enamel purse frame, WWII photos, listing as well.

For now keeping all the glass beads necklaces. Maybe sell the (what I believe is cherry amber bakelite with amber glass one.)

It is going to kill me to sell that saphiret bag, but I really don't use a purse like that. Also I'd be a nervous wreck taking it out and about. Minimally will keep it for a bit just to lessen the pain of letting it go.

I understand totally. I have gotten a few pieces like that. You just have to be able to admire them for a little while & take lots of photos to remember them before they can leave.:happy:

I call my collection a hoard for a reason.(LOL) Sometimes things come in and don't get out. Most of Thursday's finds will be sold. Still undecided about the purple pendant. Paid too darned much, but if the rock is real rock maybe I didn't ... but it's my birthstone...you get the idea. The heart earrings are Navajo, fully marked and dated no less. The cuff links and a pin I found last week are souvenirs of Greece done in sterling and probably 14k - $14 for the pair. The cupids aren't much cop unless the gold test I did here was valid. They're meltable then (modern and thin and cheap-looking, but they'll melt nicely.)

The find of the week was a pile of yarn at the local ReStore - $3/shopping bag. That included unopened packs of mohair. That'll end up on Ebay. It's dead easy to ship and a good seller.

The heart earrings yes, but the cupids are mass-produced and cheaply made...and unmarked. One of the posts was pure costume, and the rest is who-knows.

Good question. I have a cheap diamond tester. It's flawless, but with amethyst that's no help.

Not much finding around these parts, but I did pick these up. I couldn't resist because she's so fancy and he's such a little thug.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

They are both great! From somewhat different eras, I think... the woman is from early 20th (or maybe very late 19th) century. It appears that the photo of the boy might be from the studio of Abraham Bogardus, who was very well known in New York City and also had studios in New Jersey. The imprint is cut off on that one but maybe you can identify by the comparing the address to the ones listed in this article? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Bogardus @Jivvy

I'm on my blasted phone and I was having file size problems, so I cropped the info out, but thank you for mentioning the photographer. I so liked the subject, I didn't even consider who took the picture.
