More like bed of Beware in this case!

Looked through my kthnxbye bag from this weekend and found a pair of 14k and jade earrings (screwbacks, so MINEMINEMINE) and a necklace I need to run my blacklight over. Might even be Neiger if I'm lucky. One whose pictures I need to get up here might be a real prize. It's a little birdie wanting to sing Takahashi, but if so he's one from the camps - safety pin clasp and all. But the feet went missing decades ago. Has me singing:

The bag was my tote full of jewelry and a few other bits, sold so cheap I wanted to pay and skedaddle before the seller changed her mind. "OK thanks, bye" ... and then she sold me a Coach vintage saddle leather bag on my way to the car ... for $5!

Takahashi, btw, was the last name of the family who made the birds. I had some once before and sold them on eBoo. One went to a Carol Takahashi - she literally wrote the book on those birds.

I'm glad Ms. Takahshi bought one.Years ago I sold a pair of vintage 20's-40's Auto Mechanics Coveralls on Ebay. They had the embroidered chain stitch logo and name, etc & went for a good price. The buyer emailed me that he felt pretty sheepish for paying so much for the piece, but his wife wanted them because her grandad's company had manufactured the garment & the firm had been defunct for years. It was nice this lady got a family heirloom back.
You eventually find everything on eBooo.

I even found my old Maxim coffee mugs. Pfaltzgraff made them in the 80s and sold off the extras for cheap in their outlet. My original may be in the basement somewhere. I hope, since I wasn't paying $16 plus shipping for two used ones!

You'd need a giant opium den to place those beds.:jawdrop::hilarious:

yes,it seems that in most of the dens you smoked and slept on a basic palette or crude bunk bed.

They didn't need much once they were under the influence. They certainly didn't need a giant carved bed, and the den's owners needed the space for as many bunks or couches as they could fit in.

Some of the "kthnxbye" pile I got on Saturday. It's the sort of pile of stuff going so cheap all you can say is "OK (take my money!) thanks bye!" and run before they change their minds. Not in this photo are a 14k and carnelian bracelet, 7 inches with an odd clasp, and a Victorian mourning bar brooch. Probably gold too. Also a bucking wooden horsie with clasp issues. But...omg. The 14k and jade scewbacks are going straight into my hoard. One necklace may be custard glass, and one is glass and brass. One bracelet is vintage gold-filled and the other is Japanese. The find may be the birdie. He's missing his feet and has a real safety pin for a clasp, but I have a crazy hunch he's a really early Takahashi. I doubt they could get the nailed on hardware in a "relocation camp" but the website on the birds won't let me in to confirm. (and the book costs $$$)
