My eagle eye spotted the tiny hallmark on this necklace hanging with the costume jewellery in the charity shop and for £2.50 it came home.
I’m slightly confused by it though.
The links and clasp are silver, some of the links marked 925 and the clasp is marked sterling. The beads may be silver but my acid is off. The beads are held together by wires. They are a matt finish on the flat sides.
Do the beads and links look Deco or is this a mish mash of unrelated pieces? It’s long at about 90cm end to end. Any thoughts please?
    Thankyou :)

Spectacular design, I love it, you lucky girl (again!).
I wonder if it is Jugendstil, German Art Nouveau. Some Jugendstil designs are more linear, almost stark, compared to 'regular' Art Nouveau.

Hmm, that would be nice. Any idea when Germany started using the 925 mark? Would that fit in with the AN period?
    Thankyou AJ

They began to use it ca 1900, for export only though.
    Yes, it would.:)

Very nice indeed. I'm not as up on Jugendstihl as aj is, but early 20th does look right.

Ah-the extinct 'Charity Shops' of youth, mostly gone alas here in the States-replaced by GWill Managers checking sold prices on Ebay seven days a week. Sadly i think the weirder the UK economy gets-the better the 'pickins' gonna be over there.

@Any Jewelry @evelyb30 @Ownedbybear any ideas what the chain link style is called please? I’ve googled but failed miserably and need a search term to look for anything similar. Thankyou :)

I don't know. The long links look like fancy and sturdy crinkle links, but I'm sure that is not what they are called.

    Maybe @kyratango has an idea?

I suspect Kyra and AJ are sisters (?) and 'unusual links ' reminds me of that Costco hot dog I just ate.

Ok, so we invent a name for them and spread it around the internet that this style of link is incredibly rare and valuable, sell for a huge amount and split the profits between us? That’s how it works isn’t it? :hilarious::hilarious:
