This is the only photo I have. I won't be able to see anything like the cord or any marks before I wait outside of the resale shop for hours to buy it for $52. I was interested in using it on my desk, but only if it looks like vintage or antique. It has a turn knob light switch. The shade has green glass vine applied to the outside of the shade. That's all I know. Can you please help me decide.

You can see some of the cord in the picture. White plastic coated from lamp base to arm, and brown plastic coated at the base. The handle on the arm and the way its connected to the base make me think not too old. Plus the fake looking "patina".

Similar looking Dale Tiffany ones are listed for $140 and up on ebay, so for just the look, $52 doesn't seem bad.

Thank you very much. That kind of detail is very helpful.

I have mostly reproduction, stained glass lamps in my house. I acquired them through Craigslist. I'm trying to get better i.e. older pieces, so the price was not as important as the age. Now that I have found you and the other knowledgeable members to help me, I want to get older things, as my house is old, and I am working toward older furniture throughout. I am in no way competent enough to do this myself though.

The way it's made says "vintage look" rather than vintage. It'll make a nice desk lamp though.

It's pretty, that's why I asked. I would rather have an old thing. :D

Repro, but if you could tone down the phony patina and find a better shade-it could become extremely nice.

Thank you. To get it, I would have to wait a couple of hours outside the shop, because the competition for the things in the window is fierce. I have to want something badly to do that.

Handsome in its own right, but a repro.

Kinko-You might search out some nice authentic antique lamp bases on Ebay,Etsy, etc (of course the ones without period shades would be much cheaper). The spelter ones should be plentiful-brass,bronze,copper priced accordingly. Some sizes of modern shades should come in standard sizes, and depending what country they're made in-should be very affordable.
Now with the amount of picking & surfing we all do,you just might found a real period shade to replace it with,or post a 'Wanted' notice here & other sites.

Of course, there is that. I just paid a fortune to get my amber lamp fixed up.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm not much on shopping online for antiques. I don't have the skill set. I'm better up close and personal.

I happened to get there earlier than others but just 25 minutes before opening. I cut my treadmill early. I got it for $50. You were right fake patina, but a nice heavy lamp perfect for shining light directly above something I'm trying to photograph.

Thank you. I was surprised it worked out. I relied on the encouragement of the lovely members of the forum, who suggested even if it wasn't old, it was a good deal until something better came up.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I like it!!! To me, for this it wouldn't matter, Repro or not.....Just a closer look, if it helps any.......is there anything going on along the right edge along the base or is it just the 'paint' job???
