I bought a couple of pendants and chains today with some questions.
    • Milor: The chain has a Milor Mark and Italy on the other side, but the pendant has only an 825 mark on the bale. My question is the pendant a Milor pendant. The pendant is a 2.75-inch polished stone with a silver surround.

    • The second is a small inlaid spiral with a 950 mark on the back (see second post). Any thoughts on the source?

Milor makes/made chains etc for export, to be used with your pendant. I doubt it had a pendant to begin with. The red one looks like it was made in China or India less than 25 years ago. Not sure about the green one.

That's what I thought. That they were a marriage. I didn't have any ideas on the pendant. Thank you.

Green and blue is turquoise chips in resin, so may also be Indian.

The turquoise looks Mexican to me but the lack of stamping throws me. On the other hand assuming (I usually don’t assume a whole lot) it is 970, Mexico definitely uses 970 on higher grade pieces. It just looks Mexican to me.

Thank you. These little spiral pendants seem to come from many places, so I thought the clue was the 950 silver. I will look for resin instead.

Thank you. I did research it before I presented here and I saw it was a popular Mexican design. A lot of Mexican jewelry came in the latest batch of donations to the American Cancer Society resale shop I frequent. It's good to know about the 970 silver though. It has that little extra knob of turquoise on the bail which I didn't see anywhere in Google search.

It could be 970. It could also be 950. You can see either on Mexican silver.
I also think it could be Mexican. And maybe turquoise and malachite?

Thank you. I'm so glad you are out there because this stuff is very confusing to someone with so little knowledge like me.

I think it is confusing for all of us.:playful: It is more a matter of what it could or couldn't be, and which is more likely.

My bad-it’s 950 (first saw 970) but still used by Mexico and it looks Mexican. AJ if it is higher grade silver (950) would India or other Asian countries use 950?

I’m right there with you! It is not IMO an obvious piece but i prob would have bought it as Mexican.

Could also be turquoise which has gone green, hm?

Def could be but I think there is another stone. Not glass, right? Almost looks like the smith used whatever was laying around in blues and greens.

Love this discussion. I can see the artist now with bits and pieces of stone and selecting them to fit.

India and some other countries would have in the past, but if this pendant is Indian or other Asian, it would be more recent, given the style. In recent times they use 925 because that is what most international buyers know and trust.

If you find 950 these days it's most often Mexican.
