Featured Zuni Snake Eye Cuff - Clark Couyancy?

TY I love it but it’s really heavy.

 

One of my faves is Chinese/Tibetan green spider turquoise but I only collect NA turq with the exception of a couple of antique Chinese pieces from my dealer grandfather.

I know the most prized is very blue no veining Persian but that doesn’t really interest me. I’ve always loved the greener turq!

Wow. That is a sensational piece. I wouldn't have recognized it a turquoise. I love how it pairs the trapezoid shapes with the stone circles.

TY-I love it too. It’s my fave kind of turquoise and I love the odd combo of the mix with the turquoise and plastic pieces. It’s very contemporary (guessing 80s/90s) odd to me yet pays perfect homage to the history of Santo Domingo jewelry.

LOL if I get to that point I’ll message. I wore it all day and got lots of comments but my neck is killing me.

Yes but since he was born in 1908 I doubt that the piece is that late. That one listing has a typo-it says 80s but also 60s..,

 

I feel you. I get that way with most earrings. I never had my ears pierced, so I wear clips. I have some beautiful ones but it I can hardly wait to take them off. Even the light ones are painful.

I didn't notice the plastic. Interesting use of materials. I thought it was silver.

 

Ah. You are so right. 60s would be at his prime, 80s would be pushing it for such fine handwork.

 

Black plastic (car batteries, records) was traditionally used by Santo Domingo pueblo (Kewa) going back to the Depression when silver was too expensive to buy. The tradition continues today although silver is certainly used too as in the caps and beads on mine.

 

As long as it’s natural and not dyed. What drew me to my necklace was definitely the color first.

 

Very creative use of materials. Jewelry has no rules.

 

I'm a green stone lover too. I don't know enough to be confident in purchasing something costly, so I stick to thrift stone bargains and hope for the best.
