So interesting to see what people get from the painting

    Perhaps just the artist knew

I don't know my ass from my elbow sometimes, but have always been treated with kindness and encouragement here from day one

Ouch, not ashamed to say I had to Google forelorn

    That's a pretty dark interpretation

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

WOW!!! What a forlorn scene!! I don't see a leg near the blanket....I do see a brown haired head face down and a red shirt with white-ish suspenders all partially showing, leading me to think it's a boy, and all of what's said about the rest of the scene... obviously (to me) not a happy one......did the child even survive........

Didn't really see the tragic nature of the painting at first aqui

I think what anti saw in it makes the most sense

Makes you wonder about the artist, and why he would choose to paint such a subject

He's almost posing, as if he's having his photo taken

I see a ferry man dropping people off at a path on the other side of the river.
I took a few painting class and since then I look for those directional devises. these are very well done. The man is the focal point and the woman in red is important enough to include and "point" out. I think that is his jacket in the bottom of the boat. Poling is hard work!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Is there a letter "A" after "Wentworth"?

We're not seeing any "scurrying"... to us, looks like someone sitting placidly on an oddly-placed rock...

Hmmmm.... see what you mean .... LOL! I took that to be the shadow under the figures cape. I also took what some are seing as a cane, to be the figure's leg (though on closer inspection, they may have a broken leg) as they take large strides at due haste..... hence scurrying.
