Hi all! This brooch (sash pin?) came in a lot that I just purchased. It is a little rough around the edges. I am wondering if you think it is old or more of a 1980s revival piece? I am also wondering if that is the original pin? I thought the middle was amber but it doesn't glow under UV so I'm thinking glass. Any input or info is appreciated.

It's more 1920s than 1980s. Most of them were Czech. I'd imagine the pin stem is original; these weren't crazy money new and the manufacturers weren't always too careful with what went onto the back.

Thank you! I am wondering what color it would have been originally, gilt gold or silver that has worn off or closer to the bronze color that it is?

I'd be looking at Neiger on that. Absolutely 20s. Superb thing.

Two answers: who knows and who cares? (LOL) Bear said a magic word. It's honestly not my cup of pot metal, but to European jewelry collectors Neiger is a magnet. I doubt it was goldtone originally, platinum was the hot metal of the day, but who knows.

Oops, you're talking the big gun(s)!:hilarious::kiss:
It looks silvertone on my screen.
Gablonz (Czech) costume jewellery was rarely plated with precious metals, it was the impact of the design that counted. This one has impact in spades.;)

The modelling is magnificent. If it's not Neiger, it's a comparable maker.
