    Hi,
From my online research, I think this is a Korambi knife. Age unknown, but possibly 18-19th century? The handle seems to be carved of bone or horn and there is a brass insert between the handle and blade. The blade is magnetic (and rusty). It measures about 5" long. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Yes, it is a kerambit, missing its sheath. The sheath would have been wood or horn.
There are different ways of spelling it, kerambit is the Minangkabau way, from Sumatra.
It is used like a claw, which is why it is also called 'kuku macan', tiger claw. You hook your finger through the loop and form a fist. Useful in close combat.:nailbiting:

Kerambits are still used in 'pencak silat', an elegant Indonesian martial art of mixed Madurese and Sundanese (West Java) origin.
I would guess 19th century. Just call it antique.:)

My husband reminded me that I haven't had my updated tetanus shot, so I have to be careful with that blade. Lots of germs living on that metal.

Rest the blade in a glass with high percentage alcohol for 10 minutes or so (I use 96%). That'll desinfect it. The blade only, make sure the alcohol doesn't touch the horn.
