I'm not sure what to make of this. It appears to be an actual print in the style of the work, Tears of Blood by Oswaldo Guayasamin, and it is signed Enrique. It measures 10' by 8" and the print image itself is 9" by 7". It is signed Enrique, but I cannot find anyone by that name or with that signature doing that style. There are noticeable differences between this and the original but it does seem to be fairly well done. I'm hoping for a longshot that someone can make a connection and also wondering if this would be called a forgery, imitation or what the best description would be. Also there seems to be a market for "in the style of" pieces, which I don't quite understand. I will be thankful for any ideas, suggestions, leads, or advice.

Unfamiliar with the work or the artist, but looking online I'd say the original is much, much better.

Takes nerve to produce a copy as a print.

He has been a very famous and sought after artist for a long time. His works have been copied/forged extensively. I have 2 wood plaques and a couple of oil on boards I thought were by him. They werent .

Is it a print? There seems to be brushwork.

I do understand "in the style of" in that so many can't afford originals.

Yes, I've seen it with other artists before but didn't pay a lot of attention to see if there was any demand for them. I suppose if buyer and seller are on the same page it's not a bad thing.

Also about the brushwork, yes there certainly does appear to be brush strokes which I was also wondering about. Maybe added after the print was made to enhance?

I looked at his biography and he was an interesting person. Involved in politics and social justice. I also found that he is often copied and there are a lot of those copies on the market, with some more transparent about that than others. There seems to be some demand for those clearly offered as "in the style, and "after."

That was my first thought, but in researching it seems this arist is often copied. Oscar Wilde was on the money. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness”.
