Featured Let There Be (More) Light!

For grins I have to post our new (old) dining room light. It's a cast brass Ansonia with a cranberry hobnail shade, made in 1882. 'Twas a pain to swap out our old chandelier, but I hope you'll agree it was worth it!

Yes, it is indeed a trick of the light. Just another late summer twilight, but it does look kind of cool. Nothing I did on purpose, though.

 

Lovely! I always enjoy seeing your interiors! We too are beginning the swap-out-the-lights pain here. Some heavy bronze and art glass going up so we almost need a structural engineer!

Beautiful. It looks like a pulldown, kerosene lamp that has been converted to electricity? The electric cord hanging out is the only discordant note. You might try tying it to the chains to help make it less obvious. This may impede the use of the pulldown feature (if still active). I like it that a hole for the wire was not drilled through the ceiling cover. I also applaud that it was converted and put to excellent and practical use. Great!

Gus, you are correct about the electric cord. It is attached below as you indicate, but loose above so that the pull-down "motor" can operate. I also took the new photo from that angle because the color was better at that time of day.
