Featured Thoughts on an Ivory Bead

Any ideas on age or what it may have come off of. I have never seen one this nicely done. It is ivory. I hope it in some jewelry stuff I bought out of an estate. I tried search necklaces an the usual but couldn't find one like it. But maybe I am not using the correct key words. The colors are also nice it's kind of bleached out in photos

 

It looks like a Japanese ojime, the bead that goes with a netsuke.
There are necklaces with ojime, but those are usually older than your bead, and more with carved and metal ojime. But if you google ojime, you'll get an idea. They often have that floral shape around the bead holes.

 

I see a water lily and a koi fish, if that's any help.

 

I think the waterlily is meant to be a lotus.

 

Sure looks like one, but they have waterlily leaves under it. I think someone drew what the knew how to draw, whether it was the right thing or not.

 

Yes, that is usually the case. Some lotuses look more like a hibiscus or rose.

I don't think it is very old, and it looks Chinese made to me.
