Yall are too funny ! That reminds of the time some old lady kept trying to grab the picture I had leaning against my leg as I dug through a bin.Twice I told her "Im buying that" and the 3rd time she tried to grab it I said "beat it you old bat !" Had mother been with me she'd have slapped me for being disrespectful to an elderly person !

Found this Faux Tiffany today straight from the Home Shopping Network. Indescribably filthy, but not a crack one . And so pretty when lit. I paid a hot $10 .

Some old people think they can get away with things because they are old. I was at my flea market buying some sheer black curtains and an old lady walked up and grabbed them and wouldn't let go. Her daughter had to restrain her.

Was bored, took a drive yesterday. I was particularly looking for clothing for my 6'2" nephew who is now a junior in high school, so I stopped in a thrift I don't frequent anymore due to crazy jewelry prices. I did get him brand new Lands End down vest for $8, a Hawaiian shirt, and a Guy Harvey polo shirt with marlins on it. I did check out the jewelry, was surprised. No bargain at $10, but sterling, all stones present.

The necklace rack was full of those African paper necklaces (all necklaces were $5 each.) I found these two. Tigers eye with amethyst spacers.

And I thought this was a pretty glass necklace. After louping and a bout with the Presidium, the oval finding is sterling, the black beads are onyx, the rest are black banded agate.

The thrift shop where the dragon jewelry lady got everyone to sell the best things to her friends before they hit the floor missed these $3 Milor 14k earrings.

This vintage silverplated snap closure bracelet was $2 at my flea market last weekend. One of my favorite recent finds for some reason.

These sterling pearl and garnet earrings were sold for costume at $3. Garnets are my dad's birthstone, pearls mine, I think he was saying hello.

One more story...the thrift where the volunteer was stacking all the good stuff she was buying in a locked dressing room last week is no longer worth visiting. She was doing it again yesterday, and another volunteer had a cart full of great stuff, still in boxes, she bought at the register and took out to her car. They set up a Papparazzi jewelry display (dollars to donuts it is from the dressing room volunteer, she is probably trying to sell it and cut a deal with the store.) I was looking at it, so she pulled up a chair and sat down to make sure I didn't steal any. They wanted $5 a piece- I had to control myself from laughing out loud. People are selling entire sets for $1 at my flea market, and even then they can't get rid of it.

As if! Maybe they get lucky if someone's desperate?

You on the other hand came back with the goods! I took a bunch of stuff to an antique dealer today. Sold a lot of it for about break-even, but restocked his barware for him and came out with more than I spent. Even found him some more money left on the table - he had a Boucher ballerina sitting there for $6; I told him he he was short a zero. (dude does NOT know costume)

Wowzer, I may have been tempted to buy that ballerina. Good for you! Pretty soon I will be back to work, going to set up at school next Thursday, wont be on the boards much after this. There was a moving sale in an adjacent city, pics looked interesting, but temperatures are in the 90s (real feel 100s), so I did laundry and might cook dinner later. I find it funny when dealers say they can't fins enough to stock their booths.....my Rubbermaid bins runneth over.

I was tempted, but I'm closing down and not really buying costume any more. Besides, the goodwill was worth it.

    Hee hee. That's for Meeee!

Went to an antique store and sold off a bunch of stuff, including a trunkful of barware. Found ... a baggie of legit jade beads .. for $4. They probably had gold spacers; I'll probably add some sterling beads I have here and show them when I eventually get them assembled.

Uhmmm.... WHEEEEE. Meanwhile I got silverplate for the price of silverplate.(sigh) Found some spoons with a Swedish 3 crown mark ... and probably wasted $3 on them. Oh well. At least somebody made out.
