Newbie needing identification

Hello antiquers. Hoping to find resolution to this inquiry.
I'm actually asking for my mom. She has a collection she purchased many years ago and would like to know more about it.
I have photographed one of the pieces in the collection and uploaded for review.

We would like to know if anyone knows the signature of the artist?

I am wondering, has anyone ever checked to see if all of the pieces are signed by the same person or are there various signatures?

 

For instance this plate is signed by C. De Wolfe (or Wolff). It could be various factory painters or hobby painters.

By the way, your mom's bowl you are showing in the picture has an iridescent luster finish on the outside. That's a nice touch.

 

Laura: yes, according to my mom all 98 pieces in the collection are signed by the same artist. She also claims that each piece is from different regions of the globe.
Just can't make out the name Illustrated.

Wow! How did she do that? Did she scour the internet shopping online to buy pieces signed by the same person from all over the world!?

That display is beautiful.

 

She is by no means an internet buff or a smart phone user to be honest. She and my father engaged in extensive travel through out the US in their day. I believe she acquired most from a seller as a collection ..... a few of the pieces were purchased separately. She is digging through paperwork to track more specific details on the bunch.

What would be your first best guess as to the initial of the first name?

 

My mother would be disappointed if I forgot to say "Thank You" for the compliment. I agree, very impressive indeed, and I am not necessarily an art-see individual!

I'm in the same boat you are, can't decide if the first initial is F J or T.
Last name maybe Marmen, Maurnen... I tell you, there are people here who are good at deciphering handwriting and I'm not one of them. I'll wait for somebody else to have a stab at it.

 

I just showed a plate from the same maker Thomas Sevres in the Finds. I am reading that there were professional factory artists that did this work. This is from antiqueonline

The first initial is a J. Last name looks like Mamen, Mansen or Manson.
The name doesn't influence the value though.

Not that it matters to OPs lovely dish, but it says De Wolf, with an accidental dash. De Wolf is a Dutch name.

Could be.
Mauren is also the name of a town in Liechtenstein.

So, I each factory that produced the China had its own artist. Hmmmmm, very interesting. The info here will give something to google.

When I see my mom again I'll take a few more pics of various items in the display.
It seems odd at this point that the same artist would paint and sign china from different factories -

I agree it is a lovely display and purple is my favorite color.
I think my grandparents had one piece of that pattern. It looks so familiar.

Curious to hear if all of the signatures look like signed by the same hand?

 

So far I'm coming up with zilch with on-line search. Should I be surprised by this?

 

Try putting quotes around your most critical search terms. Otherwise, your search engine will follow general search algorithms. I don't know if this work, but this is what I do when I get pages of unfocused items. Also use the Image search tab on the top of Goggle, so you spend less time searching unnecessary narratives.
