Scored this lamp today with a milk-glass bottom base. The knob to bring the string up and down is labeled Risdon MFG Co. Danbury P&A Made in the U.S.A. I’ve tried and tried to find this exact one online but MANY are popping up except for this one. Prices range from $50-$900. I’m lost as to what year this model is from or what it could possibly be valued at especially since the knob and burn-string work flawlessly.
Darn the pictures are all sideways. If you can get an upright picture of the lamp base and reservoir, without a hand in the picture, or a cluttered background, so the entire shape can be seen, that's the way to do it! A straight on shot. Here is an example of the proper way to do a straight on shot against a plain background. It helps so much to have pictures like this.
You should be reading that as "P&A Risdon Mfg Co, Danbury". Risdon Manufacturing took over the Plume and Atwood plant in Danbury, CT in the 1950's and produced burners there through the mid(?) '60's. The burners would have been used by a variety of lamp makers. Judging by that hex nut holding it together I'd guess that the 60's or later would be a good time period for the whole lamp.
You’re right I’m sorry, I usually take pictures like you said the day after purchase but I was so interested in the lamp while bbqing that I jumped the gun lol! I’ll upload some in a couple hours. I appreciate the help.
Thank you! I’ll be posting a couple more pictures in a couple hours of it’s entirety. Just was trying to catch the smaller details in these pictures such as the hex nut you brought up and the name on the knob. Which the hex nut almost led me to believe maybe the milk glass bottom isn’t the original bottom?
