The wedding cake beads appear to be recycled vintage. The crosses have the same design on both sides.

The dish towel appears to be souvenir from Bahia, Brazil. Recipe for vatapá, a shrimp stew.

Professionally conducted sale here. I got there 7 minutes after opening so I only got the small bits left.

That's better than generally get here. Too may pros looking to get in the door first. Last week I got in the door first and there was nothing to get. A few small silver pieces "Oh I have to weigh this first; we can't sell it yet." Then the witch took a small silver thimble and a silver dime out of my bag of stuff, and expected me not to notice. As if. Just about cost herself the entire sale for maybe $2 in scrap. If I ever run into those two again I'll turn around and walk away.

Omg, that's terrible!!! Don't you just wish there was a way to report these unscrupulous sellers? I wouldn't run away. I would make sure I found something they missed and didn't know they missed.

I am spending the day sorting and organizing the jewelry from the last month. My sort bins are sterling and gold-filled, pearls, stone jewelry, cameos, religious jewelry, bone/natural materials, coral, and costume. Gold and platinum go right into safety deposit box. I mentioned a goofball estate sale I went to where they pried diamond chips out of costume, and they wouldn't put everything out, tried to sell the ridiculously-priced new costume first. I happened to get this for a dollar, never looked at it. Mother of pearl, onyx, goldwashed sterling clasp. Thought it was glass, didn't notice the mark on the clasp.

That's way better than a dollar. I bet they missed it because it looks like a crafter did it.
I went to one today that promised pictures but still hasn't put them up. Long story, but ... I've given this professional seller the benefit of the doubt before. She's run out of benefit.

That's what happened with the silver, what there was of it. Maybe $20 in scrap if you added it all together, but ... "oh we have to weigh this first". I think this bunch were really real estate people who weren't bright enough to realize they were in over their heads. A lot of us waiting for this week's sale went to that sale and spent...not much.

Hubby and I were going to an antique show today, so I drove to Wawa to get some breakfast. Saw a sign for a yard sale, couldn't find it. Tried again on the way home, of course, they put down a wrong address. Somebody just bought the jewelry, one lady was still setting up at 9:15. A dealer beat me to a huge perfume lot....new in boxes, sealed, she git it for $65 and that included a NIB Disney lamp. She was just relentless trying to wear the seller down I had to leave. So I missed out, off to the show.

We had special entry tickets purchased in advance, but we had to go in a separate line....which TOOK LONGER TO PROCESS. Finally got in, hardly any jewelry, prices sky high. I will post a few pics tomorrow. I did post this on the jewelry board with questions.

Competition is fierce these days. Tag sales should be plentiful, but they're DEAD here. None to be found, and the ones you find are all new stuff. The sales with vintage stuff are always a major hike. Got my sights set on an estate sale for next Friday with my fingers crossed. It's really a moving sale, but I like the estate sale runner.

I am going to that dealer's garage sale next Friday morning....she misses a fair amount. She was really agitated today complaining she didn't see the yard sale advertised. She got some fabulous perfumes, the seller got them for free as casino comps, just two I looked up totaled $139 each sold on ebay. I started to look at the perfumes and she said "I'm making a deal to buy them all." I picked one up to see a name, and she almost growled. I told her "it's all yours, just wanted to see the name." She had to have $500 in perfumes. Then she is running down the street because another lady was setting up, and she badgered her for silver. Lady said she only had a Lenox silverware set, told the dealer to stay put ( not follow her into the house) while she got a FEW pieces to show her. I did get a pair of kid's ice skates for $3....crafts people love to use them in Christmas decorations.

Marko some perfume sells at such high prices. My friend almost exclusively sells perfume on ebay and it has been slim pickings for her. I am learning some of the more pricey popular ones so I can pick them up for her so she can sell em. She always picks up stuff for me too.

The one I have- Bulgari Rose Essential- it's discontinued. She also picked up Estee Lauder Sensuous, a ton of Burberry perfumes, a huge gift set of something...but- the lady was a smoker, so that would deter me. You could smell it.
Yes. I also buy perfumes, used to sell them, but they are tricky because they can "turn." Companies also change their formulas, they did this to Paris by Yves St. Laurent, my 1980s favorite.

Just got an email from that thrift shop that has my brooch (jewelry board post.) They are having an alphapet sale this month starting August 2nd. Everything that starts with an A will be 1/2 off, August 3, everything starting with B will be half off. I am thinking I can get this BROOCH on August 3 half off!!! 20220728_142642.jpg

So....stories and a few pics from today. I stopped at a table where the jewelry was 2 for $5 or 3 for $10. I got 3. First the sterling earrings and pin
    20220730_162418.jpg
Then I spied these....I felt they were gold right away, and they are actually marked on a ring in front, 14k
    20220730_162118.jpg
Then I saw these, saw writing on the back, knew they were freshwater pearls, figured they were signed costume

The are marked Le Gi, an Italian company, 750. And the lady told me she left a big box of jewelry home. Another dealer said she couldn't bring her costume jewelry because she didn't have room. Sigh.

Some dealers were set up outside, this lavalier is small, needs a pearl with nacre, but was $2....diamond chip, trying to read the mark.
