It appears to be an old Japanese? Or Chineese Tea Pot. I can’t find any cast iron teapots in this shape anywhere? It is about 11 ½ inches tall and 7 wide. It Has a picture of a fishing boat and something else on one side. The other side appears to be a volcano with lave flowing? Also something that looks like symbols I can’t read. Lid is bronze. If anyone knows where this came from or its age, it would be a great help. Teapot-1.jpg Teapot-2.jpg Teapot-5.jpg

It has three peaks. So I'd say not.

It is a Japanese tetsubin (cast iron kettle). If it has fan shaped cartouches, it is usually Japanese.

The tetsubin and its significance for the Japanese tea ceremony:

    Yes, it is.
Those aren't three separate peaks, but a stylisation of the way Mt Fuji looks from the north (if I am correct).

Unless you don't want them to, of course. I swear they're managed by cats.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

The Sakurajima volcano in Japan on July 24th produced an unusually large volcanic eruption, throwing bombs of lava and boulders of material up to 2500 meters from its active vent. Due to how close this material landed to several large cities, evacuation orders were issued.

Cats were seen fleeing the scene....

Proof at least of superior feline intelligence, either brain cells or "intel". Hard to say either way and the cats aren't talking.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I don't know about the age, but see it has nice patina. Am just commenting in hopes that somebody else will see this as it is bumped to the top.
