Thoughts on Kosta Boda?

    Happy New Year!

In the early 1990s we received a Kosta Boda “Caramba” glass vase with the “Eve” design on it. I know it was relatively expensive then (about $100) and those vases were sold in finer department stores. We haven’t used it, and put it in a china cabinet reserved for more expensive items. I know KB has been sold in department stores such as Macy’s since then.

I know there are a ton of these vases and other KB products out there. Is the consensus that KB is considered more decorative, or actually artistic and collectible? For instance, my vintage Catalina Island pottery vases were once sold in department stores, but of course are now considered collectible art pottery. Other pretty department stores vases are just decorative items with very little value.

    Thanks.

Sedona, with Kosta Boda (and Orrefors) a lot depends on what the item is - and often, who designed it. Certain crystal bowls, for instance, were made by the thousands, and their value has not remained anywhere near as high as the original purchase price. Others (even of their clear glass items) may still sell for what they originally cost, or even more. As I said, it depends on the item.

Some of the "different" lines - like your Caramba Eve and similar - are still collected and can still demand a decent price (altho maybe not quite as much as the original MSRP.)

    What size is your vase?
