Featured Today’s charity shop finds

The local shops have been quite dry recently so I had a few hours spare and went to a couple of shops I haven’t visited recently.
Fortunately found some nice bits and pieces

Pretty amber beads

Uranium glass necklace

Pretty pink glass (pinker in real life!)

Only plastic but fun and unusual

Gold glitter glass (Chinese?) necklace and a Bakelite necklace.

Unmarked gold earrings. Hollow.

Random odds and ends inc a tatting shuttle.

Love this, a murano cat with go,d fish in its belly!

 

Nice haul, I love the amber necklace and the cat, of course !
I think the glitter glass necklace is Italian and I've seen it as sommerso or aventurine glass..

 

Love the vivid green brooches.

 

I actually like the plastic green one best. Bakelite era for sure!

IIRC the glass cat with goldfish is a classic Chinese design. The copper in glass beads are Italian for sure. And believe it or not I have those uranium glass beads too. The two-tone is called Cuba sometimes. I never knew mine would glow like that; now I have to go test them!

 

The beads are Italian, as Ruth says. Not sommerso, but clear cased and aventurine spattered.

That amber necklace is stunning

 

Love the fun and pretty beads, especially the amber ones! I love, love the cat. I have a collection of glass figures, animals, birds and etc. Now I have to find a cat with the fish! I enjoy a good quest.

 

I was a bit sniffy about plastic jewellery but I’ve developed a liking for some of the early/mid century necklaces that are unusual and have started picking them up when I see them.Some of the ones marked HongKong and Germany are very pretty. These aren’t Bakelite as they have seams. One day I’ll dig my little collection out and share some photos.

He’s my favourite too. I couldn’t leave him behind when I realised the cat has eaten the fish!
I’ve seen them listed as Murano but maybe that’s wishful thinking. Either way it’s a great design. Where are you Lizzie? If you can’t find one you are welcome to have this one as a gift if the postage isn’t daft. I’m in the UK.

 

Fishie is Chinese, and a fairly common design. Nice though.
