Hello everyone, been a while since I posted. Picked this painting up at yard sale. Need a little help with identification. The painting is on canvas, does show signs of aging (cracking). I like it!! Looks like Carlini to me but maybe Garlini?? Hmmmm. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Great to be back
Someone knows their Margaret Keane. Would be considered "big eyes" art. And looks period. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Keane Debora
What's the significance of the eyes in her work deb ? Is it innocence, trauma, fragility ? Strange how the posted painting is not great, but the dog is painted so well
Keane was quoted as saying that she thought eyes were the most expressive part of the face and that they revealed the inner person so she made them bigger and bigger in her portraits. Debora
Somewhat relevant, I hope...Margaret Keane gave rise to many big eyed things, including dollies ... Kenner made these for about a year, 1972, and kids were supposedly *scared* of them so they stopped producing them. VERY expensive to get hold of now. Even the remakes can be very pricey
