Featured Antique Russian Enamel Egg Guidance

Seeing if somebody can point me in the right direction to find out what I have. Cloissonne on enamel, with baroque pearls and semiprecious stones. Unmarked but very well detailed. What it represents I have no idea. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

No cloisonnes, so yes to enamel but no to cloisonne.

 

Where did you find it? Are you sure that it is Russian? It is very decorative -- pretty.

 

Estate sale, they had faberge crystal cut eggs with Hermitage museum stickers on them so I assume they came from the same neck of the woods, Russia. It is similar to the religious icons that they make on enamel eggs.

 

Could do with a proper shot of its base please.

It's made of enamel all around and is hollow, I have no idea what the filigree wire is.

 

As in, it's metal? Still need to see the underneath of that stand please. Full on.

No, there's something to this piece. As you can see in the pictures, it is enamel not plastic and the decoration is metal and colored glaze for the flowers with semi-precious stone and some baroque pearls, the colored glaze in the filigree borders as in cloissonne.

 

The stand looks like glass.

Sorry but no, the one from replacements does not even come close to the one I have as to workmanship.

 

It does look like glass. And that's the crucial issue: is this metal, glass or pottery?

I strongly suspect this is gilded and enamelled glass. It is certainly not cloisonne.

 

To me the filigree does not seem to be real gold, but some kind of resin or plastic. The application seems like something liquid pushed out of a tube, not applied metal.

 

Where do you see filigree? I don't see any true filigree on this at all.

 

I also see glass with enameled decoration (also glass). Inspired by Russian gift eggs like those made by Fabergé.
The gold looking parts look like glass threads. The threads have the same blob-like look as drawn wax (batik etc). It looks like intricate handwork.
Lattice motifs, like on the flower basket, are often seen in Russian jewellery, which isn't proof that this is Russian.

The pearls are freshwater cultured pearls. Even though they are irregular in shape I wouldn't call them baroque pearls.

 

There's no filigree. There's tube lining.
