Featured Went briefly to charity shop y'day~what's this mask thing?

Friends,I went to charity shop just on the off chance yesterday and ofc! I came back with Stuffs. And a box to put them in.

( I am disgusted,BTW, at the cushion thing I take pics on.
My cat and dog have been rolling on it and I dropped some milkshake on it. Is now washing machine bound)




I really only have one question ( what is this mask thing?) but thought I'd show my Stuffs whilst I was at it x

Hardly Cuz Bronwen territory :'( ( miss you my Cuz <3 ) but for 50p I had to have this.
Pretty sure it's shell.
Been over and over with a loupe and can't see any markings.

( I had the inspired idea of wearing a green cardigan whilst taking these pics, so if there's a green hue it's probably my cardy)





I haven't cleaned this yet. Marked 925 on the clasp, and a hallmark in the inside.
It's lovely.

This I have no idea about.
I've looked for mask, Venetian mask, all sorts but as I don't actually know what it is, I am lost.
It's two and a half inches ( 7 cms) across the widest part.
Two inches down ( 6 cms)
Despite my pics, it's the same colour all over.
It's marked 800 in a box.
Nothing else I can see
What's the thing at the back for?

That cameo needs testing. 1930s or a bit later. Mask is 800 silver, lovely thing. No clue on that hoop though. Hair ornament?

Didn't think of hair ornament. Someone else mentioned a thing for bottles,like a label thing. I can't see any like this though so probably not x
I do have some testing acid here and a stone, but it's been a while. Acid goes off doesn't it?

It seems the mask isn't a jewellery piece but a display piece to enjoy in a show case or on a table

The box is Breton, guesstimate 1920ish. Lovely.

I agree. The wire is like the cord that goes around the head on a full size mask. It is Italian, so Venetian mask is probably a good assumption.
It is stunning, I love it.
Now you have to scour charity shops and car boot sales for a cheap but classy jewellery display case to put it in.

 

Bou, just a thought, did you check if the mask is Sindy-size?

AJ, I have so much jewellery...I don't understand my small house contains it, my Sindys, my daughter, my dogs and cats. My books, records...clothes, General Stuffs...oh husband etc etc. I really don't get it! I tend to not think about it too much...but it's some sort of Miracle.

Teehee YES! How did you know ‽ ‽ I really should know by now what sort of size Sindy things are but I ...don't! I do know she's sort of 11 inches,and records are 12 inches or seven ( and I sort of work all things out from that.)


NO idea how I've managed to get to my grand ole age of **COFFCOFF** not being able to measure anything except Sindy & records but it's been fun!

 

Just goes to show, you don't need much to live to a grand ole age.
I am living proof too.

Not a huge Sidney (I wrote Sindy first ofc) Vicious fan but he did say something I agree with. Can't quite remember what 'twas exactly but was something like you can be 90 years old and still be a kid,whereas some people are born Elderly!

She does have a proper Masquerade mask,...somewhere. In fact,there is an entire Masquerade Sindy,and I have one. ( or maybe 4 ) But god only knows where.
