There are more ways to look at jewellery.;)

Personally I'd rather have a piece with character and accept any 'flaws', than a 'picture perfect' piece that is totally clinical, as I call it.
The piece with character is alive, and often a testimony to the maker and its history. The clinical piece could have been made by anyone with the skills, but there is no real artistry or personality, only technique, which means it has no heart and looks dead to my eyes.

This is of course my view, and I won't criticize anyone for prefering purely technical jewellery. All (well, most:joyful:) jewellery has its merits, and there is something for every taste.

    Yes, it really IS fantastic.
Handmade pieces are just that. Handmade. Sometimes with rudimentary tools.
    With flaws. And fantastic.

At a booty? - Not sure where you are, but in America a 'booty' usually refers to a woman's behind/backside!
I know that in England a boot is the trunk of a car (what we call it here) and a saying here- "She has junk in that trunk!" refers to a woman with a ...large "booty"!
So, what does at a booty mean & where is that expression used?
PS - Thanks for the compliment on my Morgan. :)

Another agree 100% - I like things that are old & unusual and that bracelet fills both definitions - plus beautiful to "boot" !

    That is Magnificent!
Unfortunately I don't have any grading chops...and that question about how to know you're gonna get value from third-party grading is as old as dirt. One way is to do some reading; for instance there are some very good books about Morgan & Peace dollars:
Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars, by Van Allen & Mallis, 3rd Edition...It's known in the trade as simply the VAM book.
Also: The Red Book of Morgan Silver Dollars by Bowers, 2nd Edition.
And: Photograde, Official Photographic Grading Guide for U.S. Coins by Ruddy, 19th Edition. Comprehensive, but useful for Morgan & Peace dollars, plus a great deal more.

All those have probably got later editions available by now.

    Good Luck!

That's right,Journey, you've got the idea ... a booty is a *car boot sale*. Literally stuff out of car boots and inside,in a field, on tables. Life lived to its fullest.

Here ( England) booty also means items, usually stolen or grabbed in a war.
It sometimes can just mean stuff ... ( for example, I got a load of booty from the booty yesterday :D), don't know if it's the same in the US.

I know what booty in the American sense is because of All Saints !

We use booty for loot/pirate treasure too, but car boot sales are a rarity. Just went to one yesterday for the first time ever. I imagine the American slang evolved from a combination of pirate treaure and "junk in the trunk", i.e. the USAian word for car boot. Also slang for a large or well-shaped derriere on a woman.

Did you enjoy the Booty? I love them more than life itself.
I pull up, barrel roll out of the car straight into the thick of it and then I examine every piece of EVERYTHING and get to the bottom of ev'ry box

SO interesting, talking about words. Wish Cuz Bronwen was here x

I know booty call because of this: I love it <3 xx

Edit, just noticed it's spelled differently

If I hadn't had a bad reaction to the heat and humidity, it would have been good. If I'd found some real jewelry that wasn't priced into the stratosphere, it would still have been OK. As it was I should have stayed home. (sigh) Too much new stuff and too much overpriced vintage.

I understand that totally. I've had a booty here & there that didn't yield result, so frustrating. I had to go and spend my bootage monies on choc & ice cream xx

    My commiserations.:joyful:
You are lucky though, with those car boot sales in the UK. Sellers here are usually way too savvy, even when selling junk.:(

I know exactly what you mean ... I don't understand why I am so lucky. The times I have heard **oh that's worth so and so on ebay** and things like that ( well ... put in on ebay then !) and my particular fave: *... that's an ORIGINAL Sindy, that is* when proudly brandishing aloft a manky 90s Barbie wannabe.
( Strictly speaking I suppose it is an original Sindy, in the sense that if you were born in the 80's, that horrid, nasty looking faux Barbie monster IS your original Sindy. But to the purist ( & people with eyes) Sindy has to look like Sindy to be...Sindy. )

I am in the bottom of every box, more than once as well if I can manage (I usually can) and if sommet's cheap and it catches my eye, tis mine. ( A seller said to me last Sat actually I wish more buyers were like you, you look very thoroughly!

But the overpriced junk by far outweighs the interesting stuffs.
I am sick sick sick of seeing *1966 Barbies*, though my first big lucky dolly barg was an American Girl Barbie ( who for once actually WAS from 1966) in a box of those pink Barbie *itches, so I have to look at each and every one just in case. That was about two decades ago and haven't found another one yet, maybe I'm due a big dolly barg!

I have been very lucky and I am very grateful to the Goddesses of Car Bootage xx

That's true at American tag sales too, although we have no Sindies at all of any vintage. I'm a dyed in the cotton knit box digger too...unless said box is full of resin (ack!) figurines (gack!). Even so still worth looking in case something worthwhile is under the nauseators.

Sindy wasn't very popular in the US, she was half-halfheartedly released there about 1978 ish, I think, just when Barbie was having a big resurgence.
Only one model also was released, a Springtime and was marketed by Marx.not Pedigree. These are often found in the box still, for some reason, which isn't good as they tend to melt into the box if unplayed with. Lots of furniture though, which I SO wanted as a child.

This is cute! Very catchy. Not as catch as *ours* though ( Sindy! The doll you love to dress !!)
