I've just acquired this lidded metal container, which was sold as a brass or bronze tobacco tin, measuring c. 10cm x 9cm.
It should arrive in the post next week, so for the next couple of days, I only have the photos taken by the seller.
The design seems to be hand engraved and possibly very slightly Middle-Eastern, although it could perhaps be an interpretation of tobacco leaves(?). The underside appears to possibly have traces of gilding and also impressed letters/words which are illegible from the photos. The lid and body would presumably held in place together by a cord or thin belt which would be threaded through the four metal 'loops' on the body and lid.
It does appear to have some genuine age to it, although I'll have to reserve judgement until the thing actually arrives on the door step.

Ideas, anyone, regarding age or origin ?????

Thanks in advance for ANY assistance !

Carefully crafted, certainly old. I’ll give it a close inspection free of charge if you will just send it, will provide address separately.

    Yep ! That's it ! You've cracked the case.
The belt loops positioned around the body are perhaps the most striking similar feature to those flasks pictured on the web.
I'll just have to be patient and wait until it arrives, before I can scrutinize the flask properly.
Once again, many thanks indeed. Your expertise and knowledge has probably saved me many (possibly fruitless) hours research. Much obliged !!!

Strap would run through lid slots and then down and around back up I imagine. would allow for the lid to slide up but not get lost.
