Featured Carnelian Agate Pill Box

This pill box was kicking around in the bottom of a sack at a car boot sale. Sadly the lovely piece of agate is cracked.
c4cm across.
At first glance I thought it was cheap and cheerful modern tat but now I’ve looked at it more closely I wonder if there is more to it?
It’s mainly the hinge that makes me wonder as it’s very well made.
I’ve googled but I’ve found them described as from Victorian to made yesterday so any help please to date this? Can’t find one the same.
Its brass, with some stamps/ marks inside the lid but difficult to decipher as needs more cleaning and in a really awkward place to loupe.

Lovely. I like to think beauty isn’t ruined just because one is a bit cracked, but I may be biased

 

You sure it is brass? Lovely little bit. Nice workmanship. I'd love to see the markings on this if you can manage to get a solid close-up picture

 

Pretty sure although I haven’t tested it.
I’ll do my best with the marks
